The trailer came out, and everyone hates it. The design sucks.

But... what about the movie itself? The plot? Anyone care about that? Well, let's check out what exactly the movie will be about. Here's the synopsis:
"Sonic tries to navigate the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound best friend -- a human named Tom Wachowski. They must soon join forces to prevent the evil Dr. Robotnik from capturing Sonic and using his powers for world domination."
Well, that sounds alright I suppose. But forget the design for a second, and the plot as well. What do we have? We have a movie based on the famous video game character created almost 28 years ago. That is certainly a very long time. Through out that time period, there has been countless video games, tv series, books and magazines and lots of merchandise. In other words, he has become a popular character in our world today and is an icon, recognized by many.
This character has gone through it all, ups and downs in terms of video games, and many changes in character designs (as we can see from the new movie trailer), but it's more than just these basic things; Sonic is getting a movie in live-action! It has happened with other popular franchises and characters such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob, and even Pokemon with the recent movie Detective Pikachu.
You know you've made it when you're turned into a live action remake. It doesn't happen to every single cartoon or video game character out there, but when it does, it usually cements that character in history. Yes, including the Fairly Odd Parents live-action movies. Sonic has already cemented its legacy, but this just adds to the long resume. It's only a matter of time before they make a movie on the Mario brothers too...
